There are a few important tips for beginner skiers to keep in mind when starting out. Before you start on the slopes, make sure you’re dressed correctly. Do not worry too much about gear as resorts often have quality clothing to rent out and someone to assist you in making the correct selections. Snowpants gloves, goggles, and a helmet are all important to make sure you enjoy your time skiing.
To start, do not lock your knees. Keeping your knees bent and bouncy is vital for maintaining your balance and control. You do not need to bend too far most of the time, but staying centered and flexible is important to ensure you don’t end up tumbling into the snow.
If you do end up falling, try to fall to your side to minimize injury. To get back up, roll onto your stomach and lift your skis into the air. Then put your feet (and as such, your skis) into the snow so the inside of your feet is in the snow.
